Oh May Currently!!

May is here my peeps!!! Countdown to summer! Yahoo!!! I'm linking up with the forever fabulous Farley over at Oh' Boy 4th Grade.  Be sure to head over to her blog to link up.

Here's my May Currently ....

* Listening - Music, music, music!!! I couldn't live without it.

* Loving - Starry Night Art!! This art project is an oldie, but a goodie.  I do it every year and always love how it comes out.  It's super easy and looks great!

* Thinking - Mother's Day is right around the corner.  I have everything prepped and done with my students, but now I need to think of my own mom.  What are my awesome blogger friends getting their moms this Mother's Day?  The only thing I know I'm getting my mom for sure is yummy little bundt cakes.  A sweet treat for my sweet mom ...

*  Wanting - New jewelry!! Charming Charlie is a great store where all accessories are color coded!!! Love it!

http://www.charmingcharlie.com/whats-new.html

* Needing - My students have been busy finishing their Mother's Day cards this week.  I found a website called Vocaroo.  It's an online recording service.  Audio recordings can be linked to a QR code.  So exciting!!!
http://vocaroo.com/

I decided to record my students reading their Mother's Day letters.  I'm going to place the QR codes inside their Mother's Day cards.  This will probably take awhile, so I need to get cracking.

* Surprise - Check out Jessica over at The Teacher Talk.  She's adorable.  I love reading her blog and following her on Instagram.  She has great ideas, cute products, and an awesome sense of style.  Her blog is hands down one of the cutest around.  Go check her out!!!

April Currently and a FREEBIE!

Happy April!!! Time for spring, bright colors, Peeps candy, and sandals.  Yay! Spring means we are closer to summer!

Of course I'm linking up with the fabulous Farley over at Oh' Boy 4th Grade for this month's "Currently".

Here goes ....

* Listening -
    Duh! I'm always listening to music.  It's therapeutic! :)

* Loving -
    I went to the CUE conference earlier this month.  It's a tech conference to advance learning in the classroom.  It was AMAZING!!! Blog post coming soon with more info.

Anyways, I learned some pretty cool things.  Here's a preview to my upcoming blog post.

ColAR Mix App - This augmented reality app brings coloring sheets to life!!!

Thinking -
  Laminate, make labels, clean, and finish up solar system projects!!! My "to do" list for Open House.  Our Academic Fair (aka Open House) is quickly approaching .... Thursday!! Yikes!!

I'm super excited for my students to showcase their learning!!! They have learned so much.  I'm sure they're going to WOW their families.

Wanting -
  Saturday!!! Next week is my spring break! Yipee! Even though I'm excited for Academic Fair, I'm ready to relax.   I'll be kicking off my spring break in Palm Springs with my best friend.  I can't wait!

Needing -
  I need to go shopping.  Ugghhh!! I'm odd and don't enjoy shopping.  I LOVE cute clothes, but I don't enjoy going to the mall and trying on clothes.  I dream about having a personal shopper.  That would be fantastic!!!

That's all for now my friends ...

In spirit of spring, head over to my Facebook page to grab a FREEBIE from my Seasonal Similes product.

Enjoy!!!

March Currently and a FREEBIE!!

Happy March!! Time for Farley's Currently!! Be sure to check out her adorable new blog design and link up at Oh' Boy 4th Grade!

Listening:
   I'm listening to Saturday Night Live recorded from last night.  It always cracks me up.  Click below to see one of my all time favorite clips from the show.  Of course it's Jimmy Fallon with Justin Timberlake.  So funny!!

Loving:
  I LOVE my Mr. Sketch smelly markers!! I use them to make charts and grade papers.  They last a long time and they smell GREAT!!!

Thinking:
  Which Dr. Seuss treat I should make for my students?  I can't believe it's already March.  So crazy!  Last year, I made jello parfaits to celebrate The Cat in the Hat.  My students loved them.

I think this year, I might make these simple treats with oreos, icing, and Life Saver gummy rings.

Wanting:
  I'm about to make some chicken noodle soup to get rid of this sore throat.  The LAST thing I want to do is write sub plans!!! I know my teacher friends understand this.  Instead, I'm going to load up on vitamins and ignore this cold.  Haha!

Needing:
  I can't believe the second trimester at my school is coming to an end .... that means report cards and parent conferences!!! Yikes! Hopefully, I'll get all my comments done today!

???:
  In honor of Read Across America, my question is "What are your favorite NON TEACHER books?"  I love reading and escaping into the author's world.  These are a few of my recent faves.

This is the final book in the Divergent trilogy.  Great read!

This is such a sweet story told from the perspective of a dog.  Loved it!!

This is a sad one, but a sweet story about life and relationships.

Happy Read Across America!!! What are some of your favorite NON TEACHER books?  I'm ready to start reading a new book.

Be sure to stop by my TPT store or my Facebook page to grab FREE St. Patrick's Day Bookmarks for your students!  Enjoy!

Happy reading,

February Currently is Here!

Happy February friends!! That means I'm linking up with Farley over at Oh' Boy 4th Grade for her monthly "Currently!" So here it is ....

* Listening -
     I love Pandora! I listen to it all the time!! It's also pretty great for the classroom.  Some kid friendly stations are Tween, Kidz Bop Kids, Classical Music, Radio for Kids, and they have great seasonal/holiday stations.

* Loving -
    Dropbox is amazing! I mentioned it in my last blog post.  It's a great way to share PDF's or screenshots instantly on your student iPads.

* Thinking -
     Who will win?! I did a Superbowl Pool with my students this year.  Each of my students picked two squares.  They could earn more squares by making good choices in the classroom.  Great behavior incentive!

* Wanting -
     I'm SO close to finishing my newest TPT product with QR codes.  QR codes are AMAZING!  Students can scan them using a scanner app.  The QR code can be linked to a website, text (i.e. an answer to a question), or a PDF file.  I plan on blogging more about QR codes in the near future.  I'm excited to use them more with my students.

* 2 Truths and a Fib

    Yes, I've been skydiving! It was amazing! Free like a bird!

    Yes, I'm addicted to The Bachelor! Oooh la la!  Juan Pablo!

FIB - As prepared as I usually am, sometimes I'm not 100% planned.  Oops! I'm sure my teacher friends can relate.  Thankfully, sometimes my best teaching happens when I "wing" it.

Happy Superbowl Weekend! My TPT store is 20% off to celebrate.  Enjoy!!!

Happy 2014! January Currently!

Happy 2014!! Cheers to a new year! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season.

Here's my January Currently from the always fabulous Farley at Oh' Boy 4th Grade.

* LOVING ~ My niece and nephew made awesome duct tape wallets for Christmas with handmade ID's. So adorable!

* MEMORIES ~ Here are some of my favorite highlights from 2013!!

My cousin got married in Japan last April.  It was amazing! We were there for the Cherry Blossoms.

Tokyo is a great city with delicious food and fantastic karaoke.  It was definitely a once in a lifetime trip!

Kumamoto Castle - This was the view from my cousin's reception. Wow!
In summer, I went to La Paz, Mexico.  La Paz means "peace" .... very fitting for this beautiful fishing town.

In fall, I went to Napa with family.  Even though I'm a born and raised Californian, I have never been to Napa.  If you love wine as much as I do, you need to go.  It's beautiful!

February Currently and Tech Tips!!

Happy February!! I love the design of Farley's CURRENTLY this month! Be sure to link up!!

* LISTENING - I'm still on my country kick.  I have it on ALL day long.

* LOVING - I love my new Smartboard and iPads in my classroom!!! They have permanently changed the way I teach.  This is the first Smartboard I've ever had.  How did I use to teach without it?! Here are some pics.
Using AirServer, I can wirelessly mirror multiple iPads onto my Smartboard.  I love using this feature during math time!! I can easily assess how my students are doing. My students love having their work displayed for everyone to see.
These pics show my students taking AR tests and solving math problems using Educreations.
I'm loving the Notebook software to create interactive lessons.  Here are a few of my second grade students reviewing time and money concepts.
 * THINKING - Thank you Punxsutawney Phil for NOT seeing your shadow!!! I am such a California girl.  Weather below 60 degrees is too cold for me, so an early Spring is music to my ears.

* WANTING - I need some suggestions for great, educational apps for my new iPads.  Time to start searching through some of my favorite teacher blogs! What are some of your favorite apps?

* NEEDING - I'll be out for two days next week for school stuff.  I need to write my sub plans ... SO ANNOYING!  This takes me to my pet peeves .......

* PET PEEVES - I hate writing sub plans! I'm sure you all feel my pain with this one.  Secondly, winter is by far my LEAST favorite season.  I can't wait for warmer weather.  I'm such a happier girl in summer!!

Don't forget the BIG Super Sunday Sale on TPT running for the next 2 days!!
